Four medical colleges get MCI approval,bidar

Sources in the Medical Education Department told Express on Wednesday that a decision to approve the Bidar and Raichur colleges was taken at a meeting of the Board of Governors of MCI in New Delhi on Tuesday.

The MCI, which had inspected both the colleges two months ago, had withheld permission for the first year MBBS due to inadequate infrastructure. But after the government gave an undertaking to the MCI that infrastructure would be provided the earliest, the MCI gave its approval, the sources said.

Meanwhile, the principal of the proposed ESI Medical College of Gulbarga Dr Chandrashekhar said that after the MCI had pointed to shortage of furniture, the college has now addressed the problem.
